The 2021 Philadelphia Flower Show.
We participated in the first outdoor Philadelphia Flower Show at FDR Park from June 5 to June 13. The theme was Habitat. The exhibit of saracennia and other bog plants included seven bog gardens created by Karen and Brian Mohn, surrounded by plants uniquely found in Pennsylvania bogs.
The 2020 Philadelphia Flower Show
The 2020 Philadelphia Flower Show was held February 28 through March 8, 2020 with a theme of Rivera. Our exhibit "Mediterranean Breezes" recreated a breezy veranda above the sea along the Berkeley, California coast. Over 60 members participated in the exhibit to educate others about tropical and outdoor native ferns and companion plants.
The 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show
With pleasure, we announce that the Fern & Wildflower Society took home two gold medals at the 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show with an exhibit called "The Ins and Outs of Ferns". Visitors could immerse themselves in ferns, about 30 different tropical indoor ferns on one side of the aisle, and 22 hardy native ferns on the other side of the aisly. Over 50 different ferns filled the 12 by 13 foot exhibit.
Exhibit chair Leslie Morris-Smith, and co-chairs Rick Reynolds and Janet Whitefield coordinated the Flower Show exhibit. About sixty-five members pitched in to help set up the exhibit, host the exhibit during flower show hours, and dismantle the exhibit at the end. A number of new members were reported by Janet Whitefield at or before the March meeting.
We are extremely grateful for Tom Tomer, Past Flower Show Chair, Janet & Tom Whitefield, Bill & Clara Bondinell, Alice Blake Simonson, Hope Punnett and others like Rita Randolph and Sharee Solow who generously shared their unique talents.
